Changing Hearts...Renewing Minds...Joining Hands
Calvary is a body of baptized believers, bound together voluntarily by the common bond of love for Jesus Christ, and committed together under God's Holy Spirit to do His work on earth. The Purpose of Calvary is very simple: "Changing Hearts...Renewing Minds...Joining Hands." We believe that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ requires no less of each of us than to share who God is and what he is doing in our lives - with every person that we meet.
As a church, we hold to a set of purposes for our ministry, including:
Worship. Through our worship of God, we come to know Him better, and we develop a heart which longs for a deeper relationship with Christ. It is through worship that Jesus, as the only Son of God, becomes the priority in all of our lives. We worship Jesus completely, with all of our heart and all of our soul. We celebrate Christ and His presence through song, prayer, instruments, proclamation of the Word, and fellowship with other believers.
Discipleship. Discipleship is a process by which the mind is transformed to become more like Christ. Our faith begins when we make the decision to follow Christ, and we begin to grow as Christan's as we make a spiritual journey with God. We believe that the transformation into a disciple occurs through corporate worship on Sundays, as well as through participation in small group Bible study.
Fellowship. Authentic relationships with spiritual bonds are formed by our relationship with Christ and through our fellowship with other believers. The Greek "koinonia" is translated as fellowship, and just as the early church strived to achieve koinonia among the early Christians, we actively participate in fellowship - living our lives together. Our activities and opportunities exist to build fellowship among the Calvary family.
Evangelism. All Christians are assigned the task of sharing their faith with others. Evangelism is not only the responsibility of a select few. All members at Calvary are encouraged to share their faith with everyone they encounter.
Missions and Ministry. We believe that the world can only understand our love for Christ and our love for others when they see us model this love through our actions. Each Christian is gifted to be involved in ministry. Calvary has specific ministries through which all of our members can participate in sharing their faith. We are committed to providing ministry opportunities for our members to engage in here in our community, our state, our nation, and around the globe.
